The most important, and most ignored, medical study in the world was published in 2004 by Olle Johansson, a scientist at the Karolinska Institute, the institution that awards the Nobel Prize for Medicine. Its other author was Örjan Hallberg and its title was “1997 – A curious year in Sweden”. In the fall of 1997, in each of the country’s 21 counties, the number of patients stopped falling and began to rise sharply.
