History

Homegrid, together with the Passive House Institute, was responsible for the implementation of the Passive House standard in Portugal.

The strategy was the following:

  1. Build the first certified building
  2. Monitor its performance
  3. Establish the Passivhaus Portugal Association – PHPT

These three steps were concluded in 2012.

Since 2013 Homegrid organized 7 annual conferences with the participation of more than 2000 participants.

Homegrid hosted dozens of official training courses with hundreds of trainees.

Mission

We define new design and building strategies to induce positive effects in both people and environment. We do not intent to only reduce the bad effects, instead we intent to increase the positive ones. The goal is to develop buildings that produce oxygen, retain CO2, distil water, use solar energy as fuel, produce food, create microclimates, change along the seasons and are still beautiful architecture pieces.

Services

We offer an integrated and custom design-build service which aims to achieve the building’s independence in terms of energy needs, water consumption and food. We work through our network of partnerships established in Win/Win logic.
