No more eucalyptus! Oak! - Homegrid

In mid-September 2024, what looked like a peaceful end to the summer in terms of “forest” fires turned out to be a nightmare on a par with 2017. The promises of a decent Portugal in terms of forestry in ashes by the burnt ground of the lifeless monoculture that suffocates everything and everyone. The solution? the immediate removal of the extensive areas of eucalyptus monoculture and a natural mosaic of oak forests and other species that don’t like fire as much as eucalyptus does and that create water instead of taking it all to the pulp companies. Another Portugal is possible. The proof? the example of Sérgio Almeida.
