The Carlos Valente Mill, formerly known as the ‘Azenha do Valente’, has its first written records dating back to 1810.

Located in Vale de Ílhavo, Aveiro, in a rural village that was once known for its large cereal production and many mills, our mill is still in operation today. It has the experience and knowledge acquired over four generations dedicated to the production and distribution of corn, wheat and rye flour. As our village has always been known for the quality and flavour of our bread, the existing mills will always be associated with this, as they meet the needs of local bakers to produce a staple product, which at that time was often the basis of the population’s diet.

With the growth of the market and the lack of hydraulic power to increase production, it became necessary to invest in the development of facilities that would enable us to meet the demand that was being felt. Initially investing in combustion engines and currently electric motors, we are able to operate six pairs of millstones, allowing us to produce an artisanal product combined with all the technology that guarantees the quality and efficiency necessary to succeed today.
